Android 7.0 Nougat Release,Review – Android Nougat

android n

Google officially declared the launch of the latest Android Update, Android N, which hasn’t been named yet. Android N is expected to be the best Android version release with much improvements and brand new features. The tech world is eagerly waiting for the Google’s mobile operating system new update. The next version of Google’s mobile operating system, Android N has its Developer preview 3, a more stable version than its beta update, released at Google IO meet on May 18th. It has been successfully tested on Nexus Smartphones, Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P. Then, Google confirmed the release of the Android N ” later this summer “.

But the previous Marshmallow update is still used in only less than 10% of android smartphones. After its launch in last October in the new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, many of the smartphones are yet to get the update. This fact is quite surprising that even after its big launch, Android has failed to boost its reach over the available smartphones. The Android N Beta is available now for these Google Nexus smartphones: Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player and the Pixel C tablet. The users have stated that the new version is more stable, more features integrated and allows smoother use of the devices.

Name of the upcoming Android version

Google usually name its Android OS updates after sweet items. After the launch of the very first versions Android Alpha and Android Beta, Google followed the trend of giving names of sweets to its Android updates. The name of Android OS updates after Alpha and Beta in the alphabetical order, Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice cream sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop and Marshmallow. Obviously, the next update will be having a name of a sweet starting with alphabet  ” N”  . But this time, Google puzzled the tech world by announcing the new update but without officially declaring its name. Till now, Android N has been known by that name since its official release on March 9.

For naming the latest Android OS, Google had even run a contest for getting user polls all around the world where anyone could vote for their favourite name. And since the voting poll is over and we expect Google to officially declare the ‘ sweet treat’ soon. However, we could hopefully confirm that the sweet name begins with  ‘N’. The leading sweet names at the voting contest were Nutella, Nougat, and our Indian snack ‘ Neyyappam’ . We should wait and see whether Google select a dessert name or any other kind of sweets for its latest update. Google has confirmed that they will declare the Android 7.0 name in a ‘few weeks’.
Android N Features

Android N offers a split screen feature that helps the users to switch between different apps. It allows multitasking by using more apps together in a multi-window mode. This helps in easy usage of two(or more) apps at once and it increases functionality. It also allows users to directly reply to notifications without starting over the particular app. This saves time and it is expected that users can easily respond to notifications. Even though these features were already available in some of the Android smartphones, Google hasn&rsquot integrated these functionalities in its Android software previous versions. It is expected that they will include these features in its latest OS update.

The options for saving battery life was available in Android Marshmallow, namely Doze mode, allows to save your battery power when your device is stationary or turned off. So, we could expect the same improved battery life option ‘ Doze mode’ in Android N too, but in a more efficient way. Also there is yet another feature called Bundled Notifications, which groups all the notifications from the same app together for better usability. This feature is best applicable when more number of notifications arrive from any particular messaging/utility app. Coming over to the performance, Android N promises better graphics, enhanced user interface and smoother, faster performance.

In short, the major features expected in Android N is given below.
